Dear Conference Committee:
Thank you for your leadership and support for early education and care this budget cycle. Your commitment to this sector includes investments of over $1.6 billion for early education and care. While there are differences between House and Senate proposals, both chambers make significant investments in key priority areas. These funding decisions come just one year after the Legislature took a bold step by passing major policy reforms and expanding the income eligibility for child care financial assistance—policies that hold great promise but will require investment to fully realize their impact.
As the Conference Committee negotiates the differences in the fiscal year 2026 state budget, we ask that you continue to support early education and care line items to the greatest extent possible. There is $100 million at stake between the House and Senate versions of this funding proposal. These investments are necessary to continue our progress in building a high-quality early education system that supports all children, families and educators in Massachusetts.
